Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Training
No matter where one is in their equity and inclusion journey, there is always more than can be done.
Social Fabric Institute Inc. offers diversity, equity, and inclusion training that is tailored to meet people where they are. Our aim is to create braver spaces that foster essential — and sometimes difficult — conversations.
What the training entails
Training can ensure that an organization has educated and informed employees who have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and postures to help their organization succeed in its diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Through in-person or online modules, Social Fabric Institute Inc.’s diversity, equity, and inclusion training covers the following topics:
Introduction to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Belonging in community/organizations
Communicating in diverse environments
Intercultural competency development
Culture and conflict styles
Creating welcoming communities
Understanding social location
Exploring authentic allyship
As every individual’s knowledge and competency level is different, customized workshops are available at durations spanning from a couple of hours to multiple days. What is consistent across all Social Fabric Institute training sessions, however, is that each is highly interactive and evidence-based.
How the training is structured
Diversity, equity, and inclusion training is an essential aspect of realizing cultural change. Social Fabric Institute incorporates research, lived experience perspectives, case studies, historical context, local examples, and more in its training. To engage the learner, Social Fabric Institute presents training content in ways that appeal to various learning styles, including:
Storytelling
Quizzes & games
Interactive presentation tools (such as co-created visual representations of feedback/key learning/perspective/goals)
Presentation / lecture
Video clips
Assessments
Small / large group discussion
Lived experience expert panels
We also believe in the value of evaluation to assess one’s own progress. Our staff can provide both quantitative and qualitative analysis of participant feedback on request. This can take the form of a short overview document or a more rigorously analyzed pre- and post-training comparison report.
