Commitment to Community
Our commitment to community
We at Social Fabric Institute Inc. believe in the importance of a strong social fabric — so much so that we put it right in our name. The strength, breadth, and depth of relationships make any community succeed; We strive to use our talents - as individuals and as a team - to lift our communities.
Operating throughout Canada, focusing mainly on the Atlantic provinces, Social Fabric Institute Inc. aims to contribute to the community in a number of ways.
First of all, we volunteer our time to causes that mean something to us. We do that by:
Facilitating connections between various cultural communities;
Speaking at relevant events;
Providing mentoring to newcomer job seekers and connecting them with potential employers.
In addition, Social Fabric Institute’s white-bodied associates also regularly serve as accountability partners for fellow white-bodied individuals who seek to challenge their biases, change their behaviour, and build their anti-racist muscle.
Finally, Social Fabric Institute Inc. is committed to the redirection of financial resources back to communities impacted by racism and colonialism; the company redistributes a minimum of 2% of after-tax profits back into Black- or Indigenous-run organizations every year. Former recipients of this financial redirection include Atelihai Inuit and Wabanaki Resiliency Lodge.
